Barmby named as new City captain

Nick Barmby has been named as the club`s new captain after Phil Brown declared he wanted a player who would wear the shirt and captain`s armband with pride.

Having already seen the armband pass between George Boateng, Michael Turner, Paul McShane and Ibrahima Sonko, Nick Barmby will become the fifth captain so early into the season when he leads the team out against Wigan Athletic this Saturday.

The 35 year old, who has been described by Brown as "a strong character in the dressing room" has made 125 appearances for his hometown club, scoring twenty goals since his move from Leeds United in 2004.

So he's gonna play every game? I doubt it, then again, who else do we have? Never thought we would miss Ashbee as much as we have, even more so than Turner, imo.

sorry guys but Brown has lost it. Lets be honest, Barmby should not be playing in the Prem league let alone as your Captain! Was a good player, now past it. Sorry but the future is not bright...
