Hull City appoint Steve Bruce as manager

Hull City today confirmed the appointment of Steve Bruce as the club`s new manager following the dismissal of Nick Barmby.

Although the search for a new manager was a protracted process following Barmby`s dismissal six weeks ago, City have finally ended their search with the Allam`s handing Bruce a three year deal at the KC Stadium.

The former Birmingham City, Wigan Athletic and Sunderland manager has targeted an immediate promotion push, with the challenge of overseeing City return to the Premier League an ambitious project which Bruce was keen to take on.

Speaking to the Official Website during his Press Conference this afternoon, Bruce said;

'Pretty much all we have spoken about over the last two-and-a-half weeks is the ambition to get the club back into the Premier League. We know that won't be easy because there are lots of clubs in the Championship with the same philosophy.

'But the reason I am at Hull City is because I believe we have got the ability to get to the Premier League. Certainly when you look at the stadium, fan-base and infrastructure - those are all in place and now we take on the project of getting to where the club wants to be.'

Bruce has already distanced himself from moves for former City duo Michael Turner and Fraizer Campbell, player`s whom he worked with at Sunderland. However, Sky Sports understands that Bruce is keen to be reunited with free agent and former Birmingham player Emile Heskey.
