Pre-Season Report: Rochdale 0 - 1 Hull City

Hull City`s pre-season preparations continued on Saturday as a strong squad defeated League 2 side Rochdale 1-0.

The fixture saw Ben Amos and Nick Proschwitz handed their first starts following their summer moves while Sone Aluko, who signed from Rangers during the week, was introduced as a second half substitute.

Proschwitz was partnered with Jay Simpson up-front, with Aaron Mclean deployed in a wide role, and the German looked positive in his first real test, although he will be disappointed not to have converted a Mclean cross when the goal was at his mercy.

With City still looking a little light-weight in attach, it was Robert Koren who found the net with a trademark long range strike, although the keeper will have been disappointed to let the effort slip through his hands.

The second half disrupted the flow of the game with City making a host of changes, including further appearances for former Tigers Bryan Hughes and Craig Fagan. Although both are training with the club to gain match fitness, there is now some thought that Steve Bruce could be considering a short-term deal for Fagan with City short of options out wide.
