Hull City manager Steve Bruce is expected to make a number of changes as his side prepares to face Leyton Orient in the second round of the Capital One Cup on Tuesday night.
With Bruce`s focus clearly on ensuring survival in the Premier League, the manager is already focused on Saturday`s mid-day game with Manchester City at the Etihad, seeking points in the league in preference to earning progression in the cup competition.
That is to mention that Leyton Orient will be no easy task. Despite being in League 1, Orient have started the season in fantastic form and have a 100% winning record in league and cup competitions, seeing City`s opponents sit top of League One.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Bruce said` "We have a really big match coming up against Manchester City at the weekend so we really don't want any injuries. That's not to say we are going to hold the competition in any disrespect, but that's the way we are going to do it, so hopefully we will be good enough. We want to progress in the cup so we will treat it like we should do, but it gives me the ability to change things around a bit.'
City should still be able to field a side very capable of progressing through the tie with a number of those set to start being given the opportunity to show they should be included in Bruce`s eighteen man squad that will travel to Manchester on Saturday.
Up-front, Matty Fryatt and Nick Proschwitz will be given a chance to stake their claim whilst Danny Graham could also be included, all three set to be given their opportunity following the dismissal of Yannick Sagbo against Norwich. The game should also see Steve Harper make his City debut in goal whilst the likes of Alex Bruce, Paul McShane and Joe Dudgeon would expect to feature for the first time this season.
