Preview: Liverpool -Vs- Hull City

Hull City will start 2014 in confident mood, sat tenth in the Premier League table on 23 points.

2014 begins with a tough fixture away to Liverpool who will be looking to end a run of two defeats that has seen them slip from top spot to fifth over the festive period. City will arrive in Liverpool with high hopes of a positive start to the new year following the 6-0 demolition of Fulham which capped off a memorable 2013.

Steven Gerrard could make a surprise return to the Liverpool midfield after recovering from a hamstring injury.

Joe Allen and Mamadou Sakho are ruled out with an abductor strain and hamstring injury respectively.

Hull City Team News

Steve Bruce may opt to keep the same starting line-up that performed so well against Fulham on Saturday but should Bruce opt for a change of formation to be more defensive, Alex Bruce and David Meyler may find themselves in contention for a starting place.
