Decent Wednesday Point For Bruce

Decent Wednesday Point For Bruce

Manager Steve Bruce has said he felt the point taken against Sheffield Wednesday yesterday was a 'decent one' on balance.

Speaking to the Official Site in his post game press conference having seen Hull come from behind in the game with a leveller from Abel Hernandez (his sixth Championship goal of the campaign so far) a relatively pleased Bruce explained.

'I thought we were okay for the first 20 minutes but we know we have to go forward quicker. The forward pass has to come quicker and we have to get between the lines quicker. We did that in the second half. Their goal rocked us back a little bit and we had to fight our corner. But, let`s be fair, Sheffield Wednesday have got the bit between their teeth at the moment and it was never going to be easy against them. It`s probably the best Sheffield Wednesday team for a few years.'

Bruce went on to say that in those circumstances it's always 'decent' to get a point, but there's clear disappointment with the majority of our first half showing - but positives from the response in the second period, so it's still about making improvements and then being more consistent.

'It`s always decent to get a point. We`re disappointed with the majority of the first half, but in the second half we rolled our sleeves up and showed that resilience we needed and we could have won it.'

Ahead of the game Bruce was planning on resting our goalscorer following his international travelling, but the gaffer said that his attitude and the mood he was in on Friday made dropping him a daft idea.

'It was his body language in training. He was cock-a-hoop having come back after scoring for his country. I`m sure he`ll be tired after this one and it might be for Tuesday that I look at him and see how he is. It wouldn`t have surprised me if he`d scored the winner against Sheffield Wednesday and I thought he had with the header that shaved the post. He`s in a rich vein of form.'
