Silva On Hull Future - We Will See

Following the confirmed Premier League relegation - after Sunday's defeat at Crystal Palace - we await news on Marco Silva's future at Hull.

Will he stay or will he go? Rumours were growing his stay at the KCOM Stadium would come to an end whatever happened to Hull this season. But having gotten to grips relatively well, despite being unable to prevent City's relegation, the challenge of guiding the Tigers in the Championship might not appeal to him? that's also another beast altogether.

Based on the points total Silva's secured on his 17 games in charge had he been in place for a couple, to a few more, you sense Hull would have avoided Premier League relegation under his guidance? However, there's no point looking at what might have been as you can only look to what will be.

Silva wasn't prepared to discuss his own future at the KCOM on Sunday, when asked as he didn't think this right. He'll now go away and talk to the powers that be to determine what happens next, the Portuguese feels it's more important to analyse what went wrong before anything else.

He was quoted by Sky Sports: 'I will see. Now is the moment to analyse with the board and the chairman. I will give them my opinion because it's clear for me. I think it's easy for the club to understand what they did wrong for the season. Afterwards I will have a chat with the chairman, of course.'

There's not likely to be a shortage of takers for Silva, 39, if he doesn't continue at Hull, which I'm sure plenty would hope he does, yet most would anticipate being an unlikely scenario.

An experienced head, Michael Dawson has spoken of his own disappointment following another relegation.

Looking specifically at the Sunderland and Crystal Palace games, Palace mainly, Hull were always up against it after slipping behind early and having to chase the game at two down when half time arrived.

Dawson was quoted by the BBC: 'It is very hard. Giving them a goal so early on and we were 2-0 down at half time. With their pace, we the got caught with two more goals. The season has been a long hard slog and it is a sad day. The home performance against Sunderland put us in a bad position. We were chasing the game all afternoon, to get beaten 4-0 and get relegated has not gone well.'

Hull weren't relegated based on the past couple of weeks though as this is a culmination of the season as a whole when City had 'just came up short' for Dawson, who basically admitted relegated was deserved but he former England defender did praise the efforts of Silva.

'The boys in the dressing room and the staff are very disappointed. You work hard all year and then you get relegated, you have to pick yourselves up and we know what to do in the Championship. Marco Silva has done a fantastic job since he came in. He has done remarkably well to give us half a chance but we just came up short.'
