Ankle Ligament Damage For Marshall

Ankle Ligament Damage For Marshall

David Marshall's bid to reclaim the number one spot at the KCOM Stadium has been hit by an injury setback.

The Scottish international picked up an ankle injury during Hull's training camp in Portugal and this is set to keep Marshall out for up to six weeks, according to City boss Leonid Slutsky.

He told the Official Website: 'The injury to David is the only disappointing thing so far. It was a very unfortunate injury and we expect to be without him for a maximum time of about six weeks.'

Marshall, signed from Cardiff last season to act as Mike Phelan's first choice keeper, lost his place to Eldin Jakupovic when Marco Silva was appointed and couldn't win it back.

Speculation surrounding the future of Jakupovic, 32, has again seen him linked with a move to Leicester but in light of this ankle ligament damage to Marshall, also 32, it wouldn't be expected Hull would allow a deal?

Jakupovic and Allan McGregor, 35, who could have seen his flagging Hull career given a boost by his countryman's injury, will compete for the no.1 spot to start the season with Marshall set to miss Championship games with Aston Villa, Burton, Wolves, QPR and Bolton.
