Dawson To Celebrate 100 At Hull

Dawson To Celebrate 100 At Hull

Centre half Michael Dawson is set for his 100th appearance milestone this weekend when Hull City face Reading.

The club skipper will make his 100th showing for the club if he takes to the pitch at the Madejski Stadium, a little over three years since his arrival from Tottenham Hotspur and speaking to the Official Site he admitted that he didn't realise he was on course for 100 until he was told.

'I actually didn't realise the century was coming up until you told me, but it's a nice landmark and I hope there are many more appearances to come. The three years I have been here have brought ups and downs. The relegation in my first season was the worst day of my career. With the squad that we had that season, we should have stayed up but we didn't and that was a failure.'

Dawson went on to say.

'On the other side of that, I had one of the best days of my career 12 months later when I lifted the Play-Off trophy at Wembley. I've had some great days during my career so far - the various debuts you make, playing for England, winning the League Cup - but getting back to the Premier League is definitely one of the highlights for me.'

In 99 appearances so far, 90 have been in the league with 87 of those starts, he has three in the Play Offs, two in the FA Cup and four in the League Cup and when presented with a little 'true or false' test from those games, well you can read it for yourself.

Against which club did you make your Hull City debut?
'That was against Aston Villa - away!' (Correct)

How many goals have you scored for us so far?
'Seven - I read that somewhere the other day!' (Correct)

Against which club did you score your first goal in a black and amber shirt?
'Liverpool!' (Correct)

How many times have you been booked in your 99 appearances?
'Errrrr, I'm going to guess at....18?' (Incorrect, the answer is actually 19)

'That wasn't a bad guess then! That's not too bad a number in the modern game. I think if you look back to my early days and the way the game was played then, if you played like that now there would be a lot more red cards. You can't tackle the same way these days, you could certainly 'get away with one' back then.'

Asked to pick out a highlight from his time with us, he explained.

'Promotion, without a doubt. Lifting the trophy at Wembley and getting promoted back to the Premier League is something that will live with me forever. Hopefully there are many more games to come now. I've enjoyed my first three years in Hull and hopefully there are plenty more achievements on the way.'
