Campbell Relishing Increased Competition

Campbell Relishing Increased Competition

Hull City striker Fraizer Campbell has said he's relishing the increased competition in the forward areas that will come with Will Keane and Abel Hernandez working back to full fitness.

With Keane spending 14 months on the sidelines following a cruciate knee ligament injury, he made an impressive return to Under 23 action last week scoring twice and Campbell has sympathy with the youngster having experienced a similar injury on two occasions whilst with Sunderland earlier in his career.

Speaking to the Official Site this week as he met with the media, Campbell explained.

'I'm so glad to see Will back out on a football pitch. I've been through what he's been through with two knee ligament injuries, so I can fully appreciate how hard it's been for him. It's always good to see a fellow professional or a team-mate on the other side of it and come through the rehabilitation process. He's done well for the Under-23s in the three games he's played for them and scored a couple of games, which I'm sure will have done his confidence the world of good. You can see he's excited to be back with how he's performing in training and everyone in the squad is delighted for him. We just can't wait to see him back in action for the first team now.'

It's not only Keane that new gaffer Nigel Adkins is hoping can soon play his part, Adkins himself was speaking earlier in the week about the ongoing progress being made by Hernandez after he ruptured his Achilles back in August.

Speaking about his five month spell on the sidelines, Campbell went on to say.

'Abel is a great finisher and capable of scoring plenty of goals at this level. He's scored a bag full of goals in 2015/16 and started this season well before picking up his injury. He'd be a massive asset to any side in this division and it will be good to also get him back fighting fit and in the squad again. Fingers crossed, it won't be too long now.'
