Instant Reactions - Sunderland v Hull (20/1/18)
Following yesterday's clash between Sunderland and Hull City, here are the instant reactions from both managers.
Sunderland hosted Hull City at the Stadium of Light on Saturday January 20, with the hosts taking a one nil victory.
Joel Asoro scored his first senior goal in the Championship to give Sunderland the narrow victory over fellow strugglers Hull City.
Hull had a great chance to level matters through Fraizer Campbell following the half time break but he fired wide.
The win was only Sunderland's second on home soil this season but Hull's winless streak extends to seven games.
Ruiter, Browning, O'Shea, Clarke-Salter, Jones (Matthews 34), Cattermole, Robson, Oviedo, Honeyman, Maja (Gooch 87), Asoro.
Steele, McManaman, Galloway, McGeady, Love.
McGregor, Tomori, Dawson, Hector, Aina, Meyler, Larsson, Toral (Irvine 69), Evandro (Dicko 79), Bowen, Campbell (Keane 76).
Mazuch, Marshall, Henriksen, Clark.
Speaking to the BBC's cameras a short time after match day referee Keith Stroud blew the final whistle, Sunderland manager Chris Coleman explained.
'The goal we scored, I don't think any team I've ever managed have scored a goal as good as that. It was absolutely fabulous. The passing, the movement and the finish was brilliant.'
Hull City head coach Nigel Adkins in his comparative interview explained.
'We've not got the three points we needed and a team close to us in the division has. I was concerned about how poor we were in the first 35 minutes. The warm-up was good, the mood in the dressing room was spot on and we go out there focused and for me we didn't get anywhere near in the duels you need to win and be competitive in in a game of football. In the second half we were better and got the ball into the area but we couldn't find the goal we needed and it's a bad loss.'
