He'll Be Like A New Signing - Adkins

Hull City head coach Nigel Adkins has said that welcoming Scottish left back Stephen Kingsley back to training, and soon contention, will be like having an additional new signing.

The 23 year old has been out of action since late September after undergoing surgery on a groin problem he'd picked up, but he returned to full training on Wednesday and although he has some way to go yet in terms of getting to a level required to come into Adkins' thoughts for matchdays, it shouldn't take long really as he gets himself back up to speed.

Speaking to the Official Site as he met with the media this week, Adkins was pleased to have welcomed him back.

'Stephen started training today and that is great news for him having been out for so long. Hopefully he`ll come through okay, there`s no suggestion to say that he won`t, and for me it`s like having a new signing. We`ll see how he goes. He`s been doing a lot of work with the rehab boys and that has been very good. We`ll plot his progression from here and, ultimately, he is a good player.'

With the cliche 'new signing' being used, Adkins also spoke about his delight at seeing Angus MacDonald's performance in his debut in the game against Preston North End last weekend.

Despite losing the game two one, Adkins saw the positives in the showing from the deadline day arrival from Barnsley.

'I was very pleased with how he slotted in and you can see the attributes that he brings. He won his headers, he looked assured and he was dominant. He wore the captain`s armband at his previous club and he`s settled in here really well. Harry Wilson also did well last weekend and both new signings have trained well this week.'
