Forest Win Delights Adkins

Forest Win Delights Adkins

Head coach Nigel Adkins has spoken of his delight at Hull City taking a valuable three points from our trip to Nottingham Forest at the weekend.

Heading to the City Ground for the latest Championship action, Hull took a two nil victory on the day with Jon Toral giving us the advantage nine minutes into the first half and then Harry Wilson adding a second before the half time break.

Speaking to the Official Site as he met with the media following the game, Adkins was delighted to have finally picked up a first league victory in 2018 and it was only our second away win of the entire campaign so far.

Adkins was also delighted for Toral given a minute before he pounced he saw his penalty effort saved, Wilson's maiden goal was a further positive and the match also lifted us out of the bottom three.

'It feels good to win. The lads have been working really hard and we`ve spoken before about that. It was great for Jon Toral to go and score from a header from a set-piece, and so good for him that it came so soon after the penalty that he saw saved because it meant that he wasn`t dwelling on the penalty. I felt for him when the keeper made that save because Jon`s had a chance to score in every game he`s played for me. It was great that he then got that header in. He was in the right position to meet a great ball in from Seb Larsson.'

Adkins went on to say about the second strike.

'The second goal was from some exceptional counter-attacking football. Jackson`s played the ball forward, Jarrod Bowen`s gone forward, played it out to Will Keane and he`s crossed it with pace and venom for Harry Wilson to put it in the back of the net. The win was only what we deserved. We should have added a third goal to put it to bed, but I thought defensively we were very solid and resolute in what we were doing. Nottingham Forest didn`t really have any chances in the game and it was a very good away performance from us.'

'The players have shown that determination and that resilience. We have probably played better than that away from home recently, but this time we got the victory and that is what it`s all about at the end of the day. It was great to celebrate an away victory with the supporters at the end.'

The downside from the day was Seb Larsson picking up his tenth booking of the season and he now misses next Friday's FA Cup clash with Chelsea and the following Championship clash with Middlesbrough before he comes back into contention.

'It`s a two-game ban but I didn`t think the foul was worthy of a booking. You could see Seb speaking to the referee afterwards, but it`s a ban for him now which isn`t ideal although it was always going to come at some stage.'
