Todays Championship Rivals Preview

Luton Town 24th

Unfortunately Luton became the first club to be relegated this season from the Championship after being beaten by Derby County last night 1-0. Our sympathies go out to the Luton fans who didnt deserve to be mucked about like they had.

Southend 23rd

If results go against them today then Southend could all but mathematically find themselves relegated this afternoon. Todays trip to a Plymouth side who have beaten Leicester & Luton in their last two games and will be seeking a bottom of the table treble, is a must win game for Southend boss Steve Tillson's team. Last weeks 3-1 defeat against Barnsley was a major blow in their survival plans and with a tough looking away game against Southampton on the last day of the season, points are at a premium in their next two games. Plymouth have nothing to play for but position at the moment, though manager Ian Holloway will be telling his team not to be complacent.

Vital Prediction. Tough one to call this one, Southend have certainly more to play for and with that at stake i predict a 1-1 draw.

Leeds Utd 22nd

Leeds face a difficult trip to the South coast today to take on a Southampton side still harbouring Play Off aspirations. Last weeks 1-0 win against Burnley kept The Whites in touch with the teams above them and boss Dennis Wise will be hoping for more of the same today. Southampton have lost their last two games at promotion chasing Birmingham & Sunderland and will have earmarked their final three matches against Leeds, Ipswich & Southend as all potential three pointers.

Vital Prediction. Another game that could go either way, but i am forecasting a Saints win 2-1

The Tigers 21st

Citys game at Stoke today is previewed on our main page.

Barnsley 20th

The Tykes last two games have resulted in a six point haul, a fact which has seen them move out the bottom three and two points from the drop zone. Todays game aginst Crystal Palace at Oakwell could see them all but safe for the season so Boss Simon Davey will be going all out to ensure that they grab the three points on offer. City fans will be hoping that ex Boss Peter Taylor can do us a massive favour by beating Barnsley today and keeping them down in the drop zone. He has gone on record as saying that he will be playing his strongest team today 'out of fairness to other clubs in the division' so i wonder if Adam has been on the phone to him this week.

Vital Prediction Barnsley are tough to crack on their day and though i hope that Taylor can come up with the goods today i fear a Barnsley win 2-0

Leicester 19th

Leicester's three succesive defeats has seen the side sitting just two points from the drop zone and they face a difficult trip to the North West today to play a Preston side looking to secure a Play off place. Leicesters last win was way back in February and since then they have taken just four points from ten games. After four succesive defeats, Preston got back to winning ways last week with a 4-0 thumping of Coventry and still look good for a play off position.

Vital Prediction. Preston to take the points 2-0

QPR

Rangers look to be all but safe now, but with three tough games to come starting with todays visit of Cardiff, followed by Wolves and Stoke it is not entirely impossible that they could be pulled back into the relegation equation by the last game of the season. With that in mind Rangers boss John Gregory will be looking for maximum points today against a Cardiff side who seem to have given up hope of any play off apirations and seem content to finish as high as they can.

Vital Prediction I predict QPR to secure their safety today with a 2-1 victory.

Heres hoping that City prove my prediction wrong.

Good honest assessment.. Although I hope we beat you today, I'd like to see the Tigers stay up - especially if that means Leeds go down. Good luck for the next couple of weeks - starting tomorrow!
