QPR 1-2 Hull - Hard work earns a fortunate reward

Referee:

Hull City finally shrugged off the away day blues to steal 3 points at QPR.

City reverted to their preferred line up with Odubajo returning at right back to allow Elmo to take up his preferred mid field role. Up front Hernandez returned partnered by Diame.

Diame flashed a shot wide on 3 mins, Elmo doing the same a minute later. Apart from that the first 15 mins were uneventful.

The game continued to ebb and flow until the 35 min when a foul by Maguire earned him a yellow card. The game then drifted again to half time.

The second half again started quietly although Clucas had a good chance on the hour. Soon after a raking pass by Diame put Hernandez through and he squeezed the ball just inside the post.

In the 63 min an excellent tackle by Robertson denied a clear chance to QPR.
Snodgrass replaced Elmo in the 65 min.

Soon after McGregor made a hash of collecting a cross but fortunately the follow up shot was blazed over. In the 72 min Diame again tried a difficult cross shot when a pull back to Snodgrass was the obvious ball. Hoilett was booked in the 74 min and soon after was replaced by Jamie Mackie to the obvious delight of the home crowd.

Hernandez was replaced by Huddlestone on 80 minutes and a couple of minutes later Fer missed a sitter for QPR.

Diamande replaced a tiring Diame on 86 mins and just seconds later Polter scored with a glorious header from a good left wing cross. It had in truth been coming for some time. McGregor touched the ball but couldn't stop it entering the net.

As the game drifted towards a draw Diamande was Johnny on the spot when a mix up between Hall and Green allowed a simple tap in.

City managed to hang on for 7 minutes of injury time but where did it all come from Mr referee?

We hardly deserved it but we'll take the 3 points. Once again it shows our lack of depth in attack.

Here's my suggestions for Steve Bruce in the transfer window. If rumours are true let Huddlestone and Davies go to bring in approx £7 million. Move Odubajo and Robertson into midfield and get two proper full backs. Let Aluko go. Get the Bentley lad from Southend to provide some decent competition for McGregor. And most important of all get Wood from Leeds and Peter Crouch on a loan deal to the end of the season from Stoke.
