Hull Reserves Continue Impressive Start
Hull City reserves continued their one hundred percent winning start to the season as they dispatched local rivals Grimsby Town for four. Out of form striker Daryl Duffy netted twice whilst one each from Bill Law and Will Atkinson made the score-line look more impressive.Danny Coles also featured in the game as he continued his comeback from injury, and with the news that Sam Ricketts faces six weeks on the sidelines with a broken cheekbone, Coles may find himself in contention for a place in the squad sooner than first thought.

Two reserve players, Russell Fry and Tom Matthews, who had previously been loaned out to Conference side Halifax Town, made their return to the City line-up after both completing successful loan spells.

City started brightly and found themselves two nil up with goals from Atkinson and Duffy. Daryl Duffy, the out of form City striker, then doubled his tally as he tried to impress hopeful of a place in the sixteen man squad that will face Queens Park Rangers this Saturday. With only twenty-five minutes of the fixture played, City had all but secured the points.

Early in the second half, a goal from Bill Law completed the scoring festivities after he had been played in by Nicky Featherstone. Danny Coles had a quiet night in the City defence until he was replaced after seventy minutes by Matthew Plummer.

City dominated the game from start to finish and the four nil score-line seemed to suggest the match was as one sided as it sounded. With the reserves doing well, it will be interesting to see whether any player's will force their way into Parkinson's first team plans - unfortunately, with City's current league position it would seem foolish to put the younger members of the squad into difficult circumstances.
